December 4th: Hormones and our bones.We will discuss the latest thoughts regarding hormone therapy. Can you use HT 10 years past menopause? We will discuss various applications of hormones, patch, creams, gels, pellets, sublingual. Estrogen types including; estradiol and estriol, DHEA, Testosterone and Cortisol.

Many of us, as we age suffer short term memory loss - "why am I in this room, to get what?" More serious forms of memory loss can develop, such as dementia and Alzheimer's. While genetics certainly play a role, what dietary things can we do to help memory? What herbs have been studied that might help? Lion's mane and ginseng have been studied and are they OK to take with other medications, especially bone medications?

November 13th: Osteoporosis and Bone Related Surgeries.Sadly, most and yes I mean most surgeons are not trained regarding osteoporosis. Orthopedic surgeon Paul Anderson is an orthopedic surgeon that does know about osteoporosis. I will share highlights from a recent presentation that he gave to my doctors group. He shares concerns as well as his approach to surgeries when osteoporosis is a concern. Surgical failures do happen and some can be avoided - learn what questions you should ask your surgeon before submitting to a knee or hip replacement and your best options to heal from a fracture.
